Sean Sawey joined Richey May in 2014 and serves as a Tax Partner in Alternative Investments, specializing in the taxation of hedge, private equity and venture capital funds. Sean consults with clients and attorneys on many types of fund tax issues, including the startup, formation and ongoing operational issues of a fund, state tax issues, taxation of financial products, tax law changes and the development of tax reporting databases and software applications. Prior to joining Richey May, Sean was a tax supervisor at Rothstein Kass where he focused on the tax treatment of many different types of financial instruments and trading strategies.
Sean is an avid fisherman and enjoys mountain biking, hiking and kayaking in his free time.
